Limbaugh Never Fails

Rush Limbaugh, who never fails to pander to the fear and entitlement of his audience, accuses Pope Francis of "pure Marxism" as Caitlin MacNeal reports on Talking Points Memo.

"I have been numerous times to the Vatican. It wouldn't exist without tons of money," Limbaugh said in a show titled "It's Sad How Wrong Pope Francis Is (Unless It's a Deliberate Mistranslation By Leftists)." "But regardless, what this is, somebody has either written this for him or gotten to him. This is just pure Marxism coming out of the mouth of the Pope."

Pope Francis denounced excesses of capitalism in a document released last week, denouncing trickle-down economic theories that have "never been confirmed by the facts." Limbaugh said that while he admires the Catholic church, he believes the Pope is clueless on the economy. "The Pope has written, in part, about the utter evils of capitalism," Limbaugh said. "It's sad because this Pope makes it very clear he doesn't know what he's talking about when it comes to capitalism and socialism and so forth."

It is remarkable how little resemblance the actual teachings of Jesus Christ as reported in the Gospels bear to the way they are represented by right-wing Christian fundamentalists.  Here is a hint for Limbaugh and other purported admirers of Christ and the church: "Every man for himself" is not one of the Beatitudes (Matthew 5).
