Two Votes for Firing Dana Milbank!

Almost ignored amidst the steady drone of McCain attack ads is the not clever, not accurate story by Washington Post writer Dana Milbank seeking to make Barack Obama out as the "presumptious" Democratic nominee for President. I agree with Ezra Klein of American Prospect on this one:

"I don't know why things like this aren't bigger scandals than they are. Dana Milbank wanted to write an article about Barack Obama's arrogance. He found a quote that, on first glance, would work really well. Except for the fact that the middle of the quote contained the line, "It has become increasingly clear in my travel, the campaign, that the crowds, the enthusiasm, 200,000 people in Berlin, is not about me at all." So Milbank just doctored the quote, deleted the offending line.

I work as a professional journalist at a political magazine. I feel like that sort of thing would get me fired."

Milbank's consistently annoying presence on Keith Olbermann's Countdown reveals his cynical take on all things political. He rarely adds to our understanding---now he is substracting words from the direct quotes of others to help us get as disillusioned as he is. Add my vote to the "fire Milbank" tally---or at least get him off of television, for God's sake.
